Funding

For the structural genomics projects in the US, funding is primarily supplied by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). An overall view of the NIH Structural Genomics Initiative and the original press release are available.

Synchrotron funding is supplied by the Department of Energy. All of the DOE synchrotrons are funded largely by the Office of Basic Energy Sciences.

The PSI-1 pilot phase ran from September 2000 through June 2005.

PSI-2 is included as part of the NIH Structural Biology Roadmap. Plans for this second phase of the structural genomics initiative were published in September 2003

PSI-2 awards were announced by the NIH on July 1, 2005.
